There is a wonderful teaching in yoga call Purnatva - Fullness, Wholeness, Perfection. It teaches that within each of us, there is a place where we are full, whole, perfect, complete, lacking nothing. That we have everything we need to live a happy and joy filled life. We practice yoga as a way to reconnect to that place of Purnatva within us and then to express that experience of fullness in our daily life.
This perfection does not mean without flaws or faults. But is a state of fullness at our essence. It's about living and being our best in each moment. It's about getting the most out of each moment and giving our all in each moment.
This fullness is not about over doing or excess. It's about appropriateness - about being totally present and engaged in the moment at hand.
Oh, sure, there are times when we feel less than whole. We feel as if we are lacking something. These are the times when our wholeness is cloaked - covered by the things in life, by living itself. This cloaking leads to a longing - a desire - to feel whole again. Often times, we begin our search in the external world - food, relationships, clothes, cars, houses, yoga poses, - well you get the picture. The most overlooked place is within - the only place where wholeness - fulfillment - can arise.
When we finally reconnect to our fullness, wholeness, perfection, then the world seems like a much friendlier, more beautiful place. We feel good, actually, great! Even, if just for a moment.
Living a life of Purnatva looks like a life of creativity, love, respect, integrity, joy, and fulfillment.
